What happens as we age?
Young skin - smooth and elastic, contains a lot of hyaluronic acid which decreases as we get older. The skin becomes dry, thinner and wrinkled.
What is hyaluronic acid?
It exists in all life in both humans and animals and creates the volume of the skin.
What is Restylane?
Restylane is the non-animal hyaluronic acid and water.
Are there any side effects?
Some common injection related reactions might occur such as swelling, pain, itching and tenderness. Reactions resolve spontaneously.
How is a wrinkle treatment done?
The gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts and this creates volume under the wrinkle that is lifted up and smoothed out.
How long does it take?
A treatment takes about 30 minutes. Treatments can be done instantly and results will also be seen instantly.
Do I need pain relief?
Generally not for wrinkle treatment, but it is easy to arrange. It is recommended for lip treatment.
How long will it last?
Wrinkles need follow up treatment after 6-12 months and lips need follow up treatment after about six months.
What will I look like after the treatment?
Expect a slight redness, swelling and tenderness.
Do I need to come back?
Touch up within two to four weeks may be necessary. Regular follow up treatments will maintain good results.
Prior to treatment, clients are seen by a local GP and Registered General Nurse who explain the procedure and side effects, and who are also available to help with any medical questions and the signing of a consent form.
After the consultation, the treatment can be carried out within a week.
